The US President, Joe Biden, will hold a virtual meeting with Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Kishida Fumio next Friday, the White House revealed in a statement.
"The talks aim to deepen the ties between the two countries’ governments and peoples, as well as support economic ties between them," the statement read.
The meeting is set to highlight the strength of the US-Japan alliance, as it is the cornerstone of peace, security, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and around the world.
"Biden looks forward to cooperating with the Japanese PM to advance the shared vision between Washington and Tokyo of a free and open Indo-Pacific region, as well as expand the close cooperation on important issues such as combating the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing the climate crisis, and partnering on new and emerging technologies, including through the Quad," the statement read.
