White House announced on Wednesday that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, emphasizing the need for a "diplomatic resolution to safely return Lebanese and Israeli civilians to their homes on both sides of the Blue Line."

In a statement today, the White House noted that "the President affirmed Israel's right to defend itself against Hezbollah, while stressing the importance of minimizing harm to civilians, particularly in densely populated areas of Beirut."

Regarding Gaza, the call addressed the urgent need to renew diplomatic efforts for the release of hostages.

According to the White House, President Biden and Netanyahu also discussed the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the importance of restoring access to the north, including the immediate reactivation of the corridor from Jordan.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days, either directly or through their national security teams.
