US President Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris decided to intervene directly in a fierce political battle that shook the state of Tennessee, linked to the controversy over possession of weapons and accusations of racism, according to the “AFP”.

Yesterday (Friday), Biden made a phone call to three Democratic representatives from the state of Tennessee, including two Afro-Americans who were removed from the local Congress because of their participation in a protest against the spread of armed violence, according to the “White House.”

Before the president invited them to come “soon” to the White House, he “thanked” them for their calls to ban assault rifles and “defend democratic values.”

And Vice President Kamala Harris went to meet them in Nashville, the capital of this southern state, to reiterate the call for “Congress” to ban the use of assault rifles, a request that was doomed to failure due to the fierce opposition of Republicans.

Harris initially went to a rally organized at a university in Nashville to support the three Democratic representatives who were targeted Thursday by a vote in the local House of Representatives (Congress), under the pretext of not respecting the code of conduct. The vote led to the isolation of two of them, the black MPs Justin Jones and Justin Pearson.

And impeachment is an extremely rare procedure that did not include the third white Democratic representative, Gloria Johnson. Hence, accusations of racism multiplied after this decision.
