US President Joe Biden hosted Danish Prime Minister (PM) Mette Frederiksen at White House for a bilateral talks in the Oval Office.
During their meeting, Biden described Denmark as one of US's greatest allies and most reliable friends.
"In cooperation with (NATO) allies, we are taking steps to enhance our common security, including ending the bilateral defense cooperation agreement that we are working on," Biden added.
Frederiksen is widely seen as a potential contender to replace NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who is expected to step down later this year.
The post traditionally goes to a European but requires approval from the United States (US).
