President Joe Biden announced the release of $81 billion in funding from the COCID-19 Relief Act to reopen schools on Wednesday, as part of the administration's efforts toward opening the majority of schools.
“I'm really proud to announce that starting today, states will start receiving nearly $130 billion in school funding that we have included in the US bailout. In fact, $81 billion dollars of those dollars will reach those schools today, "Biden said during a virtual summit hosted by the Department of Education.
"I need states to move quickly to get these resources to school districts and get them operational," he said.
The administration is launching funding for schools as part of its $1.9 trillion COVID relief package for all states. The department said in a statement that the bill includes $122 billion in pre-kindergarten relief aid to 12 schools, and two-thirds of these funds, totaling $ 81 billion, will be made available to states immediately.
