US President Joe Biden announced adopting a new strategy to combat the emergence of the COVID-19 Delta variant in a speech at the White House on Thursday.

He started his speech, saying: "Many of us are frustrated with the nearly 80 million Americans who are still not vaccinated." He continued: "This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated."

Therefore, one of the kicking-off procedures in Biden's new plan is vaccinating all federal employees and contractors in the whole arms of the states.

Regarding the workers in private companies with more than 100 employees are required to vaccinate their employees, or conduct weekly COVID-19 tests.

Moreover, he also asserted that people who would refuse to wear masks will pay fines, saying: "If you break the rules, be prepared to pay. And by the way, show some respect!"

He also urged schools to expand the process of testing all students, and staff members to provide a safe and stable educational environment for students and teachers.

Biden's strategy also includes launching a vaccination program to give people booster vaccine shots that will be imposed by September 20.

In addition, he directed increasing the process of rapid tests, and the availability of providing homes with rapid-COVID-19 home tests kits.

The President will also strengthen the COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loan program to preserve the recovery of the US economy.

Finally, he announced that the shipments of COVID-19 treatments and other medicines will be boosted by 50%.

Biden concluded his speech saying: "This is not about freedom or personal choice," adding, "It's about protecting yourself and those around you."

It is worthy to mention that the Delta variant is responsible for more than 90% of the recently reported COVID-19 infections in the US, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
