Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, is now among the youngest nominees in Grammy history after the Recording Academy acknowledged her as a featured artist in the video for “Brown Skin Girl”.

The Grammy Award, or just Grammy, is an award presented by the Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry. The 63rd Grammy Awards is set to take place on Sunday, January 31, 2021, aired only on CBS.

The 2021 Grammy award nominations were first announced in November, “Brown Skin Girl,” from "The Lion King: The Gift" and only listed Beyoncé as the main nominee in the "Best Music Video" category.

However, the Recording Academy on Friday updated the nomination to include both Carter and WizKid, another featured artist on the track, but didn't include Saint Jhn, another artist on the track.

At eight years old, Carter is one of, but not the youngest Grammy nominees in history, that title goes to Leah Peasall of the Peasall Sisters, who was eight when she was nominated and won for "Album of the Year" in 2000 as one of the credited artists on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack.

The “Brown Skin Girl” video has already won numerous accolades, including Video of the Year at the Soul Train Music Awards and the BET Awards’ HER Award.

At the Grammys, the Beyoncé and Jenn Nkiru-directed video will be competing against Future and Drake’s “Life Is Good,” Harry Styles’ “Adore You,” Anderson. Paak’s “Lockdown”, and Woodkid’s “Goliath”.

Beyoncé’s "Black Is King" is also nominated for Best Music Film.

A performer since birth

Carter was born into music royalty when she arrived in January 2012. Her parents stated in a statement at the time described her birth as "emotional and extremely peacefully. We are in heaven.”

They added, that she was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs and it was the best experience of their lives.

In 2017, Carter became a big sister when Beyoncé gave birth to twins Sir and Rumi Carter.

Beyoncé’s mom, Tina Knowles Lawson, said in November 2018 that Carter has been performing since birth.

“Whatever she wants to do, she will definitely be able to do it because she’s good at a lot of things,” she added.

Nearly two years after the little ones’ arrival, Lawson stated in February 2019, that they already had distinct personalities, adding: “The girl is really just going to rule the world, and the boy is kind of laid back and chills like the dad,”.
