Flights at Berlin Brandenburg Airport have resumed normal operations today, Saturday, following a temporary suspension caused by a drone sighting on Friday evening, according to the German News Agency (DPA).
A spokesperson for the airport confirmed that there are currently no restrictions on air traffic. The flight suspension lasted for less than two hours, during which several flights were diverted.
To make up for the delay, the airport extended its usual operating hours, allowing departures until 2 a.m. and landings throughout the night. Five departing flights reportedly benefited from the exception.
Incidents involving unidentified drones have been on the rise across Germany. Earlier in October, similar disruptions were reported at Munich Airport, the country’s second largest, causing temporary flight interruptions.
