Turkish soprano Bengisu Yaman Koyuncu is set to perform the leading role in Un Ballo in Maschera at the Cairo Opera House this Friday, as part of a new production by the Cairo Opera Company.
The Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen posted, "Our artist Bengisu Yaman Koyuncu will be playing the leading role in Verdi's opera "Un Ballo in Maschera" at the Cairo Opera on Friday."
The opera, composed by Giuseppe Verdi, will be staged over three evenings on April 2, 3, and 5 at 6:30 pm on the Main Hall stage.
The performances will be accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra under the baton of Italian conductor Elio Orciuolo.
The production also features the Cairo Opera Ballet, led by artistic director and choreographer Armenia Kamel, and the Cairo Opera Choir under the direction of Pascal Rosier.
The staging is directed by Hazem Tayel, bringing together a large-scale artistic collaboration for one of Verdi’s most celebrated operas.
The production is part of the Cairo Opera House’s ongoing efforts to present major works from the classical repertoire to local audiences.
