Belarus and Egypt have agreed to deepen cooperation in the agro-industrial sector and expand mutual supplies of products. This decision was made at a meeting of the joint working group on agriculture, which was held in the format of a videoconference, according to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, TV BRICS reported.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Ivan Smilgin. On the Egyptian side, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Livestock, Fisheries and Forestry of Egypt Mustafa Al-Sayyad as well as representatives of relevant ministries and scientific institutions.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus, in 2024, agricultural trade between the countries doubled compared to 2023. Belarus exported dairy products to Egypt, while fruit, vegetables, melons, coffee extracts and essences were supplied in the opposite direction, reports BelTA, a partner of TV BRICS.

The parties discussed further development of cooperation, including simplification of trade procedures, mutual recognition of veterinary and phytosanitary certificates, recognition of Belarusian Halal certificates, and registration of Belarusian baby food in Egypt. The prospects for joint projects in the field of feed production, agricultural machinery supplies, as well as scientific and educational cooperation were considered.

Ivan Smilgin noted the interest of Belarusian enterprises in increasing supplies to the Egyptian market. "We are open to dialogue and ready to support business initiatives aimed at sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership," he stressed.
