Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday that the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in his country is aimed at deterring any potential aggressor and that there would be no hesitation to use them if necessary.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia would start deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus between July 7 and 8, after completing special storage facilities.

The Russian President announced on March 25 that Moscow would deploy "tactical" nuclear weapons in Belarus, which is located at the gates of the European Union, which raised fears of an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
