The Senegalese Constitutional Council announced on Thursday that Basserou Diomaye Faye officially won the presidency, after winning 54.28% of the votes.

Outgoing Senegalese President Macky Sall received anti-regime leader Basserou Diomaye Faye, who won the first round of elections by 54.3%, at the presidential palace on Thursday. Sall's office described the meeting, which was attended by opposition leader Ousmane Sonko, as "calm and the main issues of the state, as well as the inauguration ceremony, were discussed at length."
