On Saturday, February 21, 2026, marking the 40th-day memorial of the martyrs of the uprising, the reopening of universities turned into a scene of confrontation between defiant students and the Velayat-e Faqih dictatorship, according to Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
From the early hours, students at Sharif University of Technology gathered on campus, chanting slogans such as "So many years of crime, death to this Velayat," "We did not offer martyrs to compromise, to praise the murderous Leader," "Death to the dictator," "Freedom, freedom, freedom," "This homeland will not be a homeland until the mullahs are buried," and "We will fight, we will die, we will take Iran back."
During these demonstrations, Basij mercenaries attacked the student gathering while chanting the fascist slogan "Javid Shah." The students clashed with the Basij mercenaries, chanting "Basiji, get lost" and "Scoundrel, scoundrel" in response.
Simultaneously, students at Amirkabir University of Technology held a protest rally on the first day of the university's reopening. They chanted, "This is the last message; the target is the entire regime" and "This year is the year of blood; Seyyed Ali will be overthrown." At the same time in Abdanan, residents took to the streets to protest the arrest of several youths and teachers. This protest quickly spread throughout the city, and chants of ‘Death to Khamenei’ echoed through the air..
On the 40th-day memorial of the martyrs of the January uprising, cities across the nation—from Tehran, Karaj, and Hashtgerd to Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Ilam, and Mazandaran—witnessed a renewal of vows with the martyrs. Grieving mothers transformed the martyrs' graves into focal points of the uprising with their fiery speeches.
