Banks To Take Official Leave on Wednesday

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) decided to shutdown all banks operating in Egypt Wednesday, January 1, marking the New Year and the end of the fiscal year for all financial institutions.

Banks will resume work on Thursday, Jan. 2, the Central Bank said in a statement on Sunday.

An official source at the Stock Exchange also announced that January 1 will be considered as an official holiday on the occasion.

The CBE issued the decision that next Wednesday, January 1, will be considered a paid public holiday for employees of ministries, government departments, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies and business sector companies.
