The interim government in Bangladesh has officially reinstated a ban on travel to Israel for its citizens by adding the phrase "except Israel" back onto passports. This means that Bangladeshi passports will now state, "This passport is valid for all countries except Israel."
The decision comes following significant public outcry, highlighted by the "Free Palestine" demonstration in Dhaka, which saw over 100,000 participants protesting against Israeli actions in Gaza. According to Nilima Afroz, an official from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the directive to reprint this phrase was issued last week to reaffirm the nation’s stance.
