The National Elections Authority (NEA) has made ballots available in Braille at polling stations to facilitate voting for visually impaired voters and ensure their full participation in the 2025 parliamentary elections. This initiative aims to provide all necessary support to enable people with disabilities to cast their votes freely and easily.
Volunteers were present at polling stations to assist voters with disabilities and the elderly in locating their polling stations and guiding them through the voting process, while maintaining the secrecy of the ballot and the voter's independence.
The NEA also ensured the availability of informational signs within the polling stations, clearly outlining the voting steps in order. This was done to help all voters easily understand how to cast their ballots and to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the electoral process.
Judge Ahmed Bendary, Executive Director of the NEA, stated that the Authority has developed a digital system and launched a mobile application to assist voters. He noted that one of the most important facilities provided to voters is the electronic application for inquiring about polling stations.
He added that the commission printed the ballot paper in Braille for visually impaired people, and placed the sign language alphabet for people with disabilities on the back of the ballot paper to guide them on the correct way to vote, in addition to distributing elderly voters and people with special needs on the ground floors.
