Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, met on Tuesday with Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of their participation in UN Security Council sessions.
During the talks, they explored the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries and discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation and coordination across various fields to serve their mutual interests.
According to the Bahrain News Agency, the two sides reviewed current regional developments, specifically the repercussions of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to international navigation and its impact on regional security, stability, and the global economy.
They also discussed the latest developments regarding the Palestinian cause.
Furthermore, both ministers exchanged views on the efforts led by the Peace Council to follow up on the implementation of the Gaza peace plan. These efforts aim to achieve recovery and reconstruction in the Strip and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to meet the needs of the civilian population.
In a related context, Bahraini FM also met with Pablo Quirno, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship of Argentina, at the UN headquarters.
The meeting focused on the distinguished cooperation between the two countries and their peoples, as well as ways to strengthen and elevate these ties in various areas of common interest.
The discussions also addressed regional updates, including Iranian aggressions against the Kingdom of Bahrain, the GCC states, and Jordan.
Moreover, they underscored the global economic and maritime consequences of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, alongside other matters of mutual concern.
