The Bahraini Ministry of Interior issued a statement, on Saturday evening, warning Qatar against continuing its provocative practices against Bahraini fishermen.

The Bahraini Interior said in its statement that it followed what was published by the Qatari Ministry of the Interior on Twitter about its borders security patrols that stopped a Bahraini cruiser in the “Fasht Al-Dibal” area with three sailors on board and referring them to trial.

Bahrain explained that it did not receive an official report of the incident, stressing that Qatar's persistence in such evocative practices is completely inconsistent with the principles of the Gulf Cooperation Council, good-neighbourly relations and international laws and norms; also it reflects Qatar's hostility and targeting the citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain in their livelihood.

The Bahraini Ministry stressed that it reserves the right to take whatever it deems appropriate to preserve the rights of its citizens, as the territorial waters are a source of livelihood for citizens who mainly work as fishers.

Earlier, Qatari forces intercepted two boats belonging to the Bahraini Coast Guard after the end of their mission in the "Marine Mane" exercise.

The statement pointed out that Qatar ignored "their affiliation with the Bahraini Coast Guard as an official entity, in addition to the fact that the Qatari boats did not carry any flag or identity, according to international norms, while the two Bahraini boats carried the flag of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the logo of the Ministry of Interior."

Earlier, Engineer Muhammad Al-Sisi Al-Buainain, head of the Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee of the Bahraini Parliament, revealed a parliamentary move on the systematic targeting of Bahraini fishermen in the territorial waters by Qatar.

It is noteworthy that this move comes after the detection of a series of violations and assaults committed by the Doha's authorities against Bahraini sailors within the Bahraini maritime borders, which were documented by Sky News Arabia in the documentary film "Arrows of Treachery."
