Bahrain has summoned the acting head of the Iraq embassy in Manama in protest over continued drone attacks targeting the kingdom and other Gulf states.

The Bahraini Foreign Ministry said Ahmed Ismail Al-Karawi was handed an official protest note condemning what it described as ongoing cross-border drone assaults launched from Iraqi territory.

The ministry urged Iraq to address the threats urgently and responsibly in line with international and regional law, while stressing Bahrain’s right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and stability.

The move comes a day after Saudi Arabia summoned Iraq’s ambassador, Safia Al-Suhail, over what it called escalating attacks and threats involving drones originating from Iraq and targeting Gulf countries.

The diplomatic escalation follows a rise in cross-border attacks attributed to armed groups in Iraq aligned with Iran, which have reportedly targeted energy facilities and civilian infrastructure across the Gulf.

In late March 2026, six Arab countries, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, issued a joint statement condemning the attacks as a serious violation of national sovereignty and international law.
