Bahrain has issued a nationwide ban preventing its citizens from travelling to Iran and Iraq, citing ongoing regional security tensions and risks to public safety.
The Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday that the restriction will remain in place until further notice, describing the decision as a precautionary measure aimed at protecting citizens amid what it called continued instability linked to regional developments.
Authorities said legal action will be taken against individuals who violate the travel ban.
The ministry linked the decision to what it described as escalating security risks stemming from regional conflicts, stressing that the move is intended to safeguard national security and citizen welfare.
The announcement comes shortly after Bahraini prosecutors launched an investigation into an alleged network with reported ties to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, accusing it of exerting influence over religious institutions within Bahrain.
According to official statements, the group is accused of intimidating religious figures and transferring funds to organisations operating in Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon.
Authorities have also ordered the freezing of assets belonging to individuals linked to the investigation, as part of a wider crackdown on alleged foreign-backed activities.
The developments reflect rising regional tensions and Bahrain’s continued security-driven approach to travel and internal stability.
