BA Celebrates with Concluding Greek Orthodox Patriarchate's Manuscripts Restoration Project

On Wednesday, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) organized a celebration on the occasion of concluding the project of restoring all the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Alexandria manuscripts.

The celebration was attended by Dr. Mostafa El Feki, the director of BA, and Pope Theodoros II, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, and Chrambus Bakritzis, the head of the Cypriot Anastasios G. Leventis foundation that funded the project.

It also saw exhibiting the final seven restored manuscripts, in addition to screening a film about the whole stages of the project that started in October 2012.

On his side, El Feki expressed that he is proud of such a project that was executed professionally.

He added that this occasion came on the anniversary of Egypt's armed forces October 6th War victory which motivated the whole team to work hard.

While Pope Theaodoros expressed his gratitude to President Abdel Fattah Sisi for his decision to allocate a piece of land for the church in the New Administrative Capital, describing the president's decision as a reflection for his appreciation to the ancient Patriarchate in Alexandria.

The Pope pointed out that the new center of the Patriarchate will be a hub for gathering all cultures regardless of their nationalities and religions and for all humanity and global peace.

He also hailed the huge efforts exerted by the BA for restoring all manuscripts due to their historical value.

On his side, Bakritzis highlighted that the BA did for renovating the manuscripts professionally, and in high quality, alongside, showing his gratitude to the BA for conducting the project.

Finally, he referred to the BA's vital role in Egypt and the whole world as a center of art and culture.
