Early Saturday, former Al Zamalek player Ibrahim Shika passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Sheka suffered from rectal cancer, which caused him to lose a significant amount of weight, changed his facial features, and confined him to a wheelchair, as repeatedly mentioned by his wife, Heba El-Turki, in videos shared on her personal social media accounts.
Sheka was one of Zamalek’s youth academy players and a well-known captain of the team.
He battled rectal cancer, and underwent intensive treatment at the hospital before his death.
Before his health deteriorated, Sheka shared a heartfelt message to his wife.
He posted a photo of them together on his official Instagram account with the caption:
"Life has taken and brought people, but you have remained constant since the beginning.
