Azhar Calls for Unification of Anti-Terrorism Int'l Efforts

The Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, called on Tuesday for the unification of international efforts in combating terrorism, in the wake of the terrorist incident that shook the Austrian capital on Tuesday.

The Sheikh of Al-Azhar said in a tweet on his official account on Twitter, "I was greatly distressed by the terrorist incident that occurred in the center of the capital, Vienna, as a calamity turned this quiet and safe place into an arena for bloodshed and spreading panic and fear."

"I sympathize with the victims and their families, and all the victims of terrorism in the world,” he added.

Tayeb added that "unification of international efforts in combating terrorism, extremism and hate speech."

The terrorist organization ISIS had claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place, on Monday, through a statement broadcast on its channels on the Telegram application.
