Human Rights Defender of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Artak Beglaryan accused the Azerbaijani army, on Sunday, of using prohibited weapons in its operations in the region.
Beglaryan said that the Azerbaijani forces are using missiles and cluster bombs, in addition to "Smerch rocket launchers," against civilians, pointing out that the Azerbaijani army uses drones in its attacks.
“This indicates that Azerbaijan is using prohibited weapons illegally and in prohibited areas, which has led to a large number of deaths and injuries,” the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) added.
It is worth mentioning that a ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan came into effect to end nearly two weeks of heavy fighting over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Officials in the disputed region and Azerbaijani forces accused each other of firing missiles and rockets on civilian areas on Saturday morning, shortly before the ceasefire was due to start.
