Azerbaijan has reopened its border to cargo transport with Iran, restoring commercial truck traffic that had been suspended following a security incident earlier this month.
The government of Azerbaijan confirmed Monday that the movement of freight vehicles across the border with Iran has resumed.
According to an official statement, cargo transport, including transit shipments carried by all types of vehicles, is now permitted again in both directions between the two countries.
The cross-border transport had been halted on March 5 after a drone incident in the Nakhchivan region prompted security concerns.
Authorities said the suspension was introduced as a precautionary measure following the UAV incident near the border, which heightened tensions between the neighboring states.
The resumption of cargo traffic is expected to restore a key trade route linking the South Caucasus with markets in Iran and the broader region.
