Axios has revealed, citing a U.S. official and informed sources, that Iran has submitted a new proposal to the United States through Pakistani mediators in an attempt to revive the path of understandings between the two sides.
According to the sources, the Iranian proposal includes a vision for reaching an agreement that ensures the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to the state of war.
Additionally, it suggests deferring the nuclear negotiations file to a later stage—a move aimed at bypassing internal divisions within Iran regarding the scale of potential concessions.
The report noted that this proposal comes as part of Iranian efforts to alleviate domestic pressures and find a diplomatic exit from the current crisis, at a time when complexities surrounding the negotiating positions of both parties are mounting.
In the same context, U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to hold a meeting today with his top advisors to discuss the Iran file, including the current negotiating deadlock and options for escalation or de-escalation in the coming period.
