Marvel superhero movie “Avengers: Endgame” has broken a new record after it became UK's fastest-selling digital download film of all time.

“Endgame” is the final chapter of a story told across 22 Marvel films featuring popular characters including Iron Man، Captain Marvel، Black Widow، Thor and Ant-Man.

The Marvel movie debuted at the top of the official film chart on Wednesday with the highest-ever opening week of digital download sales.

It has also become the highest-grossing film of all time at the box-office, on July 20.

Now it's racked up 335,400 downloads in its first week smashing the previous record held by Bohemian Rhapsody.

The Queen biopic entered the history books in February with 265,000 downloads in its first week.

The movie's prequel Avengers: Infinity War is the third fastest-selling download having claimed almost 253,000 downloads in its first seven days.

In this week’s film chart, fellow Avenger Captain Marvel also sits in sixth place.

The movie's popularity will have been boosted by the fact that the film is not yet available on DVD or Blu-ray.

It's unlikely to appear on streaming services such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, as Disney is gearing up to launch its own streaming service, Disney Plus, this winter.

Moreover, it's likely for the movie will only be available to stream on Disney's own platform, an exact UK launch date for which has not yet been confirmed.

The movie's runtime is the longest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it clocks in at 3 hours and 2 minutes.

It picks up after Infinity War, where many of Marvel’s big-screen superheroes appeared to turn to dust. In “Endgame”, the survivors' plot to kill supervillain, Thanos.

The popular Avengers franchise began back in 2008 with "Iron Man".

The movie has received positive reviews from critics، with a 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Fan surveys last year showed it was the most anticipated film of 2019.
