The "Washington Post" newspaper revealed that the US federal authorities have arrested two women in connection with the storming of the Capitol building on January 6th and one of them confessed planning to murder Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The newspaper reported that one of the women expressed her intention, during the protests, to shoot House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

On January 12, the Federal Bureau of  Investigation (FBI) obtained a video clip in which Dawn Bancroft and Diana Santos Smith appeared, on leaving the Congress building. After that, the security forces arrested the two women.

In a video clip she sent to her children, Bancroft said, "We broke into the Capitol, we went in, and did our job, we looked for Nancy (Pelosi), to shoot her in the damn head, but we didn't find her."

The investigation office confirms that the two women lied from the start to the authorities on their participation in the storming.

They are now facing three federal charges, including the accusation of intentional infiltration into a building that is not allowed to enter without special permission, obstruction of government activities through riots, and uncontrolled behavior in the Building.

Bancroft and Santos-Smith, both donning red Make America Great Again hats, were among countless Trump supporters who entered the Capitol in a violent, chaotic scene meant to halt election certification proceedings, according to prosecutors. At least 160 people have been charged in federal court with crimes related to the riot.

Around Inauguration Day, Santos-Smith first told the FBI she attended Trump’s rally but did not enter the Capitol building, according to the complaint.

"When FBI agents showed her the video in which Bancroft remarks about Pelosi, Santos-Smith admitted she lied and said she was in the Capitol to protest but had not planned it," the FBI said.
