Austrian Foreign Minister (FM) Alexander Schallenberg stressed on Monday that the world is going through a historic and unprecedented energy crisis.
Moreover, he noted that the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a documented international partner in supporting international efforts to overcome the current crisis.
This came in a congratulatory message sent by the Austrian FM on Monday, to the new Secretary-General of OPEC, Haitham Al-Ghais, from Kuwait, who formally assumed his duties, succeeding Muhammad Barkindo (Nigeria), who passed away a few weeks ago.
In addition, Schallenberg wished Al-Ghais "all success in his great position of managing one of the most prestigious international organizations concerned with energy, which Austria has been proud to host for several decades ago."
