Austria, Hungary Accept Moscow's Demands to Pay for Russian Gas in Rubles

Austria and Hungary accepted payment for the Russian natural gas supplied to them based on the mechanism proposed by Moscow, that is, through "Gazprom Bank".

According to “Russia Today”, A Russian news website, the Hungarian Foreign Minister confirmed that his country will pay for the Russian gas supplied to it based on the mechanism proposed by Moscow.

The Hungarian minister stressed that Russian gas supplies to Hungary through Bulgaria are taking place naturally.

Today, Wednesday, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Peter Szyjjarto said, “The next payment for Russian gas is set for May 22 (2022), and this will be done by transferring the price of gas in Euros to our account in Euros in (Gauprombank), which in turn will convert it into rubles and send it to Russia's Gazprom Export.

On the other hand, the Austrian chancellor said that Austria and the Austrian energy company "OMV" had accepted the terms of payment for Russian gas in the Russian ruble.
