Authorities in Austria have announced that one of the country’s largest wildfires has been fully extinguished after 17 days of continuous firefighting operations in the state of Styria.
Thousands of firefighters, civil defense teams, and emergency personnel took part in the large-scale response effort to contain the blaze.
Operations commander Hans Koch confirmed that the wildfire had been brought completely under control, highlighting the crucial role of recent rainfall in supporting firefighting teams and accelerating containment efforts.
Officials said the rain significantly reduced fire intensity in affected forest areas, allowing emergency crews to complete final extinguishing operations after more than two weeks of battling the flames.
