Australia has added Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to its list of state sponsors of terrorism after an intelligence assessment linked the organization to planned attacks against Jewish communities in the country, according to Foreign Minister Penny Wong on Thursday.
In August, Australian authorities accused Iran of orchestrating two antisemitic arson attacks in Sydney and Melbourne.
Earlier this week, Canberra ordered Tehran’s ambassador to leave within seven days, marking the first expulsion of its kind by Australia since the Second World War.
