US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stressed the urgent need to facilitate the delivery of more humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians, especially in the northern Gaza Strip, through new roads.
In a statement, Pentagon said that Austin called, during a phone call with his Israeli counterpart, Yoav Galant, for an evaluation of the ongoing negotiations regarding the release of “hostages” held by the Hamas movement.
The statement indicated that the two parties agreed on the need for the US Congress to pass the additional financing project, which includes providing aid to Israel.
