US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated, on Thursday, that threats posed by ISIS in Syria, Iraq, and West Africa remain significant. He emphasized the necessity of not underestimating the danger posed by the terrorist organization.
Speaking on the sidelines of a NATO defense ministers' meeting in Brussels, according to US-based Alhurra channel, Austin mentioned that the United States is collaborating with allies to defeat ISIS in Iraq and Syria. He affirmed that the US possesses global presence and sufficient capabilities to confront ISIS wherever it operates. Discussions today also addressed combating ISIS-affiliated partners in West Africa and Asia.
The US Defense Secretary highlighted that his country faces various threats, including the Russia-Ukraine war and challenges posed by China. He expressed readiness to discuss international coalition plans to counter these groups cooperating with ISIS.
