Ateltico Madrid have announced on Tuesday the signing of Central African Republic midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia from Spanish rivals Valencia.
Kondogbia, 27, has signed a 4-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
He is seen as a replacement for Ghana international Thomas Partey, who joined Premier League club Arsenal on transfer deadline day.
according La Liga rules, Atletico were given an extra 30 days outside the transfer window to replace Partey, as his release clause had been paid.
"The box-to-box footballer is a strong presence in midfield and contributes defensively and offensively," the Spanish club described Kondogbia.
He played five friendly internationals for France before swapping allegiances to the Central African Republic (CAR) in 2018 and has since played three times for them.
