At least 60 were killed, and many others were injured, when 7 train cars overturned in a valley, Lubudi region Lualaba Province, southern Congo.
Radio Okapi quoted the local director of Lubudi as saying that at least 60 people were killed in Train accident in the area on Thursday-Friday night, explaining that this toll is still preliminary.
The official indicated that families have exhumed 7 bodies from the site of the accident, while the authorities have exhumed other 53 bodies so far, noting that there were many injured people who had been transferred to the hospital.
However, other sources said that the death toll is much higher, and probably hundreds of people were killed in the accident.
The accident occurred due to the separation of 7 cars of a freight train carrying people illegally, as the 7 cars fell into the valley.
