At least four people have died and dozens remain missing after a ferry sank off the coast of Indonesia’s popular tourist destination, Bali.
According to the National Search and Rescue Agency, the ferry *KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya* capsized in rough seas just 30 minutes after departing from Ketapang Port in East Java on Wednesday evening.
As of Thursday, rescue teams have confirmed that 23 passengers have been successfully pulled from the water.
However, efforts continue to locate 38 others who are still unaccounted for. Emergency responders are battling high waves and adverse weather conditions, complicating the search operation.
The incident has drawn national concern, as maritime transport remains a crucial yet vulnerable mode of travel across Indonesia’s vast archipelago.
Authorities are now investigating the cause of the accident, with early reports suggesting that severe sea conditions played a significant role.
