At least twelve people have been killed and ten others injured following a severe bus accident in central Ecuador, according to the country’s disaster management agency.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred on a route linking the town of Simiatug to the city of Ambato.
The Office of the Attorney General stated that the crash took place while the vehicle was travelling along this mountainous road, though the exact cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed.
Emergency teams arrived at the scene to assist survivors and begin investigations into the circumstances of the tragedy. Local officials are expected to release further details as the inquiry progresses.
The deadly incident adds to growing concerns about road safety in Ecuador, particularly in rural and high-altitude regions where difficult terrain often contributes to serious transport accidents.
