At least 100 people died, in addition to 150 others injured in a massive fire that sparked at a wedding in Nineveh, Iraq on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people gathered to celebrate a wedding in the Al-Hamdaniya region in Nineveh province when fire broke out at the venue.

Until now, no official word about the cause of the fire, however, early reports claimed that the fire broke out due to fireworks.

The flames of the fireworks hit some parts of the ceiling, causing them to catch fire and fall.

INA cited Iraq Civil Defense, saying: "The fire led to the collapse of parts of the hall as a result of the use of highly flammable, low-cost building materials that collapse within minutes when fire breaks out."

Local officials highlighted that the groom and the bride were among the victims of the fire.
