A landslide occurred in a remote village in northern Papua New Guinea, killing about 100 people, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) reported on Friday.
Photos circulated on social media showed residents climbing huge boulders scattered among tree trunks and debris left by the landslide while assessing the damage.
ABC said that bodies were recovered after the landslide hit the village of Kawkalam in Inga province at around 3 am local time (05:00 pm GMT).
