On Friday, Cairo Jazz Festival (CJF) concluded the activities of its breathtaking exhibition about the history of underground bands in Egypt. It was one of unique events that presented to music lovers a forgotten chapter from the history of the underground scene.

The exhibition consisted of three main features: the display of old, and vintage photos for the bands, the scattered material written on the walls that narrate those bands' stories, and the nostalgic music of the featured artists at the exhibition.

Targeting documented and forgotten legacy of the Egyptian underground music, and bridging between the echoes of the past with the tuneful vibes of today's acts are the core of such a phenomenal exhibition. So, combining the music of the featured bands with their rare and old photos enriched the experience of the visitors.

Some of the popular figures whose names were hung on the walls were Hany Shenouda, Ezzat Abu Ouf, and Omar Khorshid.

On the other hand, there are dozens of phenomenal names who were never introduced to the current generation of musicians or underground music lovers such as The Cairo Jazz band, Les Petits Chats, the Black Coats who were praised by the legendary Tawfik Al Hakim, The Ram Jam, and The Stars, alongside some surprising names from Al Mahala such as the Spiders band, and the Angels band.

Abouna El Agamy (St. Agamy), this Christian Priest, had a significant influence on musicians as he supported them financially, and funded various artists to purchase good instruments, in addition, he introduced them to several realms of melodies and rhythms.
