Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sacked Foreign Minister, Zohrab Mnatsakyanian, Monday, as thousands participated in a new demonstration against the peace agreement signed with Azerbaijan, since this agreement sparked controversy and angry reactions in the country.
Last week, Pashinyan announced that a peace agreement had been reached with Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh region under Russian mediation, to put an end to the battles that resulted in thousands of deaths and tens of thousands of displaced people.
On Friday, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, and his Armenian counterpart, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, discussed, the implementation of the joint statement of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh.
“The two parties discussed issues related to the practical implementation of the articles of the statement of the President of Azerbaijan, the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Russia, who pays special attention to the difficult humanitarian situation in the region,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
