On Wednesday, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Nagorno- Karabakh's conflict could only be settled peacefully, criticizing the statements of Azerbaijan on the issue.
As the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh enters its fourth week, Armenia offered a peaceful settlement which Azerbaijan neglected.
“The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement in which it tried to present the position of Azerbaijan and Turkey that rejects the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh as if it is the position of the Armenian side,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“We always proceed from positions that exclude a military solution to the conflict,” the ministry added. “We reiterate that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh can only be settled peacefully within the framework of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.”
The Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that he does not see any opportunity for a diplomatic solution to the conflict indicating that "Azerbaijan rejects what is acceptable to Armenia."
Azerbaijan considered this statement as evidence of "Armenia's endeavor to continue taking over parts of Azerbaijan" and Yerevan's reluctance to reach a diplomatic solution.
