On Wednesday, the press service of the Armenian Cabinet said that the Armenian government temporarily banned the import of Turkish goods, and the decision will take effect on December 31.
According to a decision issued on October 20, "the government of the Republic of Armenia imposed a temporary ban on the import of goods of Turkish origin. The ban will come into effect on December 31, 2020."
The statement added, "It should be noted that restricting the import of Turkish goods aims to achieve security objectives, taking into account the proven facts of Turkey's explicit support for military and terrorist actions launched by Azerbaijan against the Karabakh Republic."
"The ban on importing Turkish goods stops financing the Turkish from Armenian sources, and at the same time prevents potential penetration of possible threats to Yerevan by importing end-use goods from an enemy state," the statement said.
Azerbaijan and Armenia announced that they had reached an agreement over a humanitarian truce, starting at midnight on Sunday, but the two sides exchanged accusations of violating it.
This truce is the second of its kind that has been announced since the outbreak of the sharp military escalation in the Nagorno Karabakh region, after the two sides reached a similar agreement in Moscow on October 10, during a tripartite meeting at the level of foreign ministers with the participation of Russia.
