Today, the spokesman for the Armenian Ministry of Defense, Artsron Ovanessian, confirmed that the Azerbaijani armed forces managed to capture the city of Kobatli in Karabakh.
The spokesman said, "Unfortunately, late last night, during the battles, the opponent was able to occupy Copatli and advance in some directions."
The Armenian Prime Minister, Nicole Pashinyan, announced that he had spoken on Monday night with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, expressing his "doubts about respecting the ceasefire regime in Karabakh."
Yesterday, Sunday, the United States of America announced that a new humanitarian armistice was reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the Karabakh region, so that it would come into effect at eight in the morning, Monday, local time.
On Sunday, new clashes broke out between Azerbaijan and Armenia several minutes after the ceasefire entered into force, and the two sides exchanged accusations of violating the armistice and obstructing a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
This truce is the second of its kind that has been announced since the outbreak of severe military escalation in the Nagorno Karabakh region, after the two sides reached a similar agreement in Moscow on the 10th of the same month during a tripartite meeting at the level of foreign ministers with the participation of Russia.
A number of countries, including Russia and France, called on the parties to the conflict to show restraint.
Also, the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a phone conversation in which they indicated that it is important to make every effort to prevent escalation in Karabakh.
