Moments ago, it was reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to start a ceasefire starting from midnight today, following a surge in military confrontation and shelling between both countries over disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region.

Earlier today, Azerbaijan said that12 civilians were killed by Armenian shelling in the second city of Ganja, which President Ilham Aliyev considered 'war crime'.

"They will be held responsible for that ... if the international community does not punish Armenia, we will do it," he said during his televised remarks.

Aliyev said on Saturday the Azerbaijani army has completely taken over two regions previously held by separatists, Fizuli and Jabrail.

"We are dominating the battlefield," he said, adding that Azerbaijani armed forces never targeted civilian settlements.

The eruption of violence in September 27th between the two former Soviet republics over Nagorno-Karabakh could also lead to a humanitarian disaster.
