An armed movement in Iraq announced that it has targeted the US "Ain al-Assad" military base, where American forces are deployed in western Iraq.

The movement said that the base was targeted by a drone and it directly hit the base.

US Defense Department (The Pentagon) announced that American forces stationed in Iraq and Syria were subjected to 55 attacks during the past month, which resulted in dozens of American soldiers being slightly injured.

Washington holds armed groups affiliated with Iran responsible for the escalation of violence.

However, the United States has launched strikes on sites in Syria that it says are linked to Iran on three separate occasions, but the attacks by drones have not stopped.

Deputy Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters, "Since October 17 until today, we have monitored 55 attacks on American forces. There have been 27 attacks on American forces in Iraq and 28 attacks in Syria," noting that 59 Americans were injured.
