A tense hostage situation unfolded on Saturday at a pizza restaurant in Issy-les-Moulineaux, a suburb southwest of Paris.
Armed with a knife, a man reportedly held several employees captive before law enforcement successfully resolved the incident.
The suspect, described as the son of the restaurant owner, barricaded himself inside the establishment late Saturday morning. French police surrounded the building, which is situated near the Paris ring road.
Authorities confirmed that three to four employees were held hostage. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the police urged the public to "allow security and emergency services to carry out their work."
After a three-hour standoff, police safely freed the hostages, none of whom sustained injuries. The suspect was apprehended and is now in custody.
According to French media outlet BFMTV, the suspect, who reportedly struggles with drug addiction, was expressing suicidal intentions.
