The Argentinian government has extended health restrictions until August 6 in an attempt to curb the spread of the COVID-19, amid fears over the arrival of the more contagious Delta variant.
The country of 45 million inhabitants has so far recorded 4.6 million infections, including 98,000 deaths.
"The delta variant has been detected in 86 countries and is between 50% to 70% more infectious than the alpha variant," the government said in a statement.
