Arabs Tighten Measures to Contain Potential Virus Outbreak (Video)

This morning, the first two cases of corona virus infection were confirmed in the Palestinian Gaza Strip for two people who had arrived, Thursday, from Pakistan and were quarantined in Rafah, near the Egyptian borders.

The Gaza Strip authorities have closed schools, public markets and event halls in the past two weeks to reduce the risk of the spread of Corona.

In Kuwait, the Council of Ministers decided to extend the suspension of the work of government and private sector for two weeks, after it has already extended the suspension in schools and universities until August 4, to become the first country, regionally, to impose such a long closure of educational institutions.

Kuwait reported 176 cases of the virus so far.

In Iraq, the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee confirmed that it will recommend a new set of measures in accordance with the decisions of the governmental and parliamentary crisis committee, noting that the epidemiological situation has become very dangerous and the citizen must be aware of its size and shoulder the responsibility to overcome the crisis.

"We entered a dangerous stage that we can never bear given our health potential, and there is no way for us to get rid of this epidemic except by adhering to preventive measures," said committee member Faleh Al-Ziyadi

In Qatar, the authorities announced mobile patrols and checkpoints, after a ban was imposed on all gatherings to contain the spread of the Coruna virus.

Qatar also closed parks and public beaches, but said food stores, pharmacies and home delivery services would continue to operate as normal. Doha has so far reported 481 infections without deaths.

On its part, the Sultanate of Oman decided this morning to ban gatherings in public places, reduce the number of employees in workplaces in government agencies, and close exchange shops as part of its measures to contain a possible outbreak of corona. So far, the Sultanate has reported 55 cases of the disease.

In Morocco, the Royal Air Maroc company announced the suspension of all its domestic flights, until further notice, coping with the government's announcement of "a health emergency".  The authorities had announced that 96 confirmed cases of the virus had been reported as of yesterday evening and the death of three people.

In a heartfelt scene, citizens of Tanga in northern Morocco went out to their balconies, chanting the Moroccan national anthem, and recited religious prayers through loudspeakers in mosques.

In occupied Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that he was close to reaching an agreement to share power with his political opponents with the aim of forming a government able to deal with the Corona virus crisis.

Netanyahu has said he will head the government for 18 months, after which former general Benny Gantz will take over.

The number of people infected with corona in Israel reached 945 people, including 16 in the army, in addition to one death.
